Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), a leading renewable energy provider, will start producing high-efficiency monocrystilline PERL (passivated emitter, rear locally diffused) solar cells that reached 21.4 percent conversion rate from its independent test from early 2016.

To meet the commercial production schedule, HHI will convert all of its existing monocrystilline solar cell production lines to PERL-type solar cell facilities at Eumseong, South Korea. Upon upgrading the facilities, HHI will be able to roll out 200 MW high conversion rate PERL solar cells annually.

HHI’s PERL solar modules can generate 5 percent more electricity than solar modules made of conventional solar cells.
