Ulsan, South Korea – December 3 – Hyundai Heavy Industries’ (HHI) employees, associated volunteer groups, and foreign community members teamed up for the heart-warming task of making kimchi, a traditional Korean spiced cabbage and staple of the Korean diet, for the less fortunate in the local community on December 3.

HHI has been hosting the Kimchi Making for Charity event for the past 25 years. Mr. Choi Kil-seon, chairman & CEO of HHI; Mr. Kwon Oh-gap, president & CEO of HHI; Mr. Kang Hwan-goo, president and CEO of Hyundai Mipo Dockyard; and hundreds of volunteers participated in the event at the fountain square of Hyundai Culture & Arts Center, Dong-gu, Ulsan.

Funding for the kimchi making event was raised from the charity bazaar HHI held from November 4 to 7. The 5,000 heads of cabbage and 3,000 radishes used for kimchi making were harvested from the Hyundai Education Foundation's Natural Study Center.

The participants of the event plan to distribute the kimchi to the welfare facilities, nursing homes and households in the neighboring community.
